Candis primarily leads the team’s residential sales, rental, and relocation services, while Brent brings experience in residential transactions, multifamily properties, mixed-use buildings, and real estate investments. Candis Lai
Candis Lai is a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New York Properties, specializing in residential sales, rentals, and relocation throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.
Known for her personal approach, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail, Candis helps clients understand both the financial and emotional considerations involved in a real estate decision. Whether she is preparing a property for sale, developing a marketing and pricing strategy, guiding a first-time buyer, assisting a family relocating to New York City, or helping a landlord secure the right tenant, Candis remains closely involved throughout the process.
Her professional achievements include the Chairman’s Gold Award in 2021 and the President’s Circle Award in 2022, 2023, and 2024. These distinctions reflect her commitment to providing responsive, knowledgeable, and highly personalized service.
Born in Hong Kong, Candis moved to Brooklyn at the age of nine. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Brooklyn College and an MBA from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Before entering real estate, Candis worked in ophthalmology software sales and consulting. That experience strengthened her ability to explain complicated information clearly, identify her clients’ needs, negotiate effectively, and manage detailed transactions from beginning to end.
Today, Candis combines her business background with firsthand knowledge of New York City’s neighborhoods and housing market. She is especially passionate about helping clients find not only the right property, but also the neighborhood and lifestyle that will allow them to feel at home in New York.
Candis speaks fluent Cantonese and has a working knowledge of Mandarin. Outside of real estate, she enjoys exploring New York City with Brent and their daughter, Alexis, traveling, and scuba diving.
Brent Seberhagen
Brent Seberhagen began his real estate career in 2013 with The Carroll Group at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago. Working alongside his award-winning parents, Izetta and Jay Carroll, Brent gained extensive experience in residential sales and developed a strong understanding of property valuation, marketing, negotiation, and client representation.
During his first year in the business, Brent helped facilitate a residential sale at 21 East Huron that became the largest transaction in the company’s 20-year history. His early career with The Carroll Group also exposed him to a multistate real estate business serving clients in Chicago, Florida, and Wisconsin.
Brent returned to New York City in 2018 and now works alongside his wife and business partner, Candis Lai, at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New York Properties.
In addition to residential real estate, Brent focuses on commercial and investment properties, with particular experience in multifamily and mixed-use buildings. He helps clients evaluate opportunities, understand property fundamentals, and navigate the additional considerations involved in investment real estate.
Brent’s experience complements Candis’s residential focus, allowing the team to serve clients across different stages of property ownership—from renting or purchasing a first home to selling, investing, or expanding a real estate portfolio.
His approach is strategic, patient, and tailored to each client’s goals. Brent believes that strong representation begins with listening carefully, providing honest information, and helping clients make decisions with confidence.
Outside of real estate, Brent enjoys spending time with Candis, their daughter, Alexis, and their Sheltie, Charlie. He has also volunteered with the Food Bank for New York City and supported organizations including The Sunshine Kids Foundation and THON, a Penn State student-led philanthropic initiative.
